The way Christian parents rise up and fight for their children in this culture is by returning to God’s plan for parenting that we read about in Deuteronomy 6:6-9. At Chosen Gen, we call this Discipleship Parenting.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates. – Deuteronomy 6:6-9
3 Parts of Discipleship Parenting
Teaching the Bible Faithfully
God has given Christian parents the responsibility to teach their children the truths of the Bible, which means we need to know it. This happens by being people that read it on our own daily.
Living It Out Boldly
Actions speak louder than words. Our kids see if we are not living out what we teach them. We need to take God's Word and show them what it looks like to live it out and the true life found following Jesus.
Standing on It Fearlessly
As parents, we need to be there to help our children stand against the attacks of this disbelieving world by equipping them with answers to the skeptical questions of the day.
